Paddle slowly through Beaver territory

Paddle slowly through Beaver territory

Mindfulness in motion!

Focus! Listen to every sound from nature, feel every feeling that you get from being in the wild.

Disconnect yourself from everything else but you!

Nature is never quiet, there is always something going on, the water against your paddle, the small birds chirping in the bushes along the creek, a fish splashing when it feeds. All sounds of life!

I do not want to tell you what you should feel. I love this place and I feel great when i can slowly float downstream. 1 paddle-stroke at a time.

About the tour

We use our really steady fishing kayaks and go paddle on a small stream in the middle of the forest.

These boats are made to be steady enough to fish from and we sit on top of the kayak instead of in it as on a seakayak.

We meet at Wild Lapland headquarters and try out lifejackets for everyone and check that we have everything we need.

Then we get into the car and head into the forest. It is a 40min drive through the wild before we get to our starting spot. If you do not come by your own car to us, we arrange transport.

We start at one place upstream and put our kayaks into the water. Safety briefing and packing all our stuff. On this tour we slowly float/ paddle our way downstreams and the current gives us something 2km/h so with very moderat input of energy we get 4-5km/h, if the wind does not blow the other way… Relax and enjoy yourself.

Beavers live here and we will se marks and tracks and sometimes the actual beaver.

We stop half way to make outdoor lunch at the riverbank.

The first half of the tour the creek is a bit more narrow. After lunch it widens itself a bit and more comes to a steady float. There are no currents or rapids on our stretch of the creek.

We expect to get a little wet, some splashing from the paddle is always happening. Getting in and out of a kayak is a best done by stepping into the water a bit. I use barefoot shoes or go barefoot if its warm and in autumn boots or neoprene socks are nice.

Mosquito repellent is provided by me but if you need something special please use your own.
